Mobility of Denver Donates Ambulance to Ukraine

May 8th, 2023 by

Denver, CO – Mobility of Denver today announced that it has donated one of its ambulances to US Ambulances for Ukraine, an Illinois based group working with the Ukrainian Resistance Foundation to send used American ambulances and fire engines to Ukraine. These vehicles are being sent to replace emergency vehicles that have been destroyed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Toward the end of May, the ambulance will be trucked to US Ambulances for Ukraine’s storage facility in Chicago. Once there it will receive some additional supplies before being shipped to Europe this summer via roll-on-roll-off ship and then eventually driven into Ukraine and turned over to Ukrainian first responders.

“We are proud to do what we can to help get this Ambulance into war-torn Ukraine – where the people need it more than we do here. The US Ambulances for Ukraine team has the long journey ahead of them to bring the unit to the people and we’ll follow along with great excitement to watch its progress.” said Justin McMinn, General Manager of Mobility of Denver.

This ambulance will be part of a larger shipment of fire engines and ambulances from the United States that will be sent in July of this year. To date, US Ambulances for Ukraine has 28 ambulances and 1 fire engines operating in Ukraine. The vehicles have been delivered to front line military units, fire departments, NGOs, hospitals, and other Ukrainian entities in need of these lifesaving vehicles. The group currently has another 15 vehicles in transit to Ukraine right now and expects them to be delivered and operational by the beginning of June which will bring the total number of ambulances to 38 and the total number of fire engines to 6.

“It is amazing to think that we will have 44 emergency vehicles in Ukraine by early June. It is just as amazing to know we already have additional ambulances and fire engines lined up for a shipment in July. It is because of donors like Mobility of Denver that we can make this possible. Their generous donation of the ambulance is greatly needed and will be immediately put to good use in Ukraine saving lives. I am very grateful to them and all the other donors,” said Chris Manson, founder of US Ambulances for Ukraine.

The Mobility of Denver ambulance will be part of the 9th shipment of used emergency vehicles sent to Ukraine from the USA since the effort began March of 2022. The vehicles will be trucked to a warehouse in Illinois before moving to an East coast port where they will be placed on a ship headed to Europe. From there they will be trucked to a staging location in Poland and then driven across the border by volunteers associated with US Ambulances for Ukraine. This will be the 4th ambulance that has been donated from Colorado. Two have been donated from South Metro Fire Rescue Authority and the other ambulance is being donated by Mile High Ambulance.
